Ahana Chakraborty Named CHSU-COM Student Doctor of the Year

December 10, 2024

Ahana Chakraborty, second-year medical student at the California Health Sciences University College of Osteopathic Medicine (CHSU-COM), has been named the 2024-2025 Student Doctor of the Year.

Ahana was selected by the CHSU-COM Student Government Association from a pool of highly competitive candidates who proudly contribute towards bettering CHSU through leadership, community service, dedication, and professionalism.

Representatives from the CHSU-COM Student Government Association, 2024-2025 Student Doctor of the Year Committee stated this about Ahana Chakraborty, “Ahana embodies the osteopathic spirit through her extensive local volunteer work. Moreover, she represents CHSU nationally through her work with SOMA, advocating for students at a multitude of conferences this past year. Her research continues to push the integration of nutrition and patient education within patient care. We are proud to have Ahana represent CHSU-COM in the selection of the national SDOY.”

Ahana is highly involved in leadership and service, and she is the President of the CHSU Student Osteopathic Medical Association, President of the Pediatric Interest Group, Academic Liaison in the Focus Liaison Group for c/o 2027, and Editor for the National SOMA research journal, “The Future DO.” She also volunteers her time in the Clovis community.

“My goal in medical school and beyond has been to always advocate for others. I do my best to notice when someone is quiet, or when someone seems to be struggling with something, academically or emotionally, and reach out when I can. Every minute I spend volunteering or engaging in leadership follows this same goal: I hope to always be a source of support and encouragement for those around me. Receiving the honor of Student Doctor of the Year means an incredible amount to me, and simply reinforces my passion for making a positive impact within our school and greater community. I am immensely grateful to those who nominated me, and for the SDOY Committee for selecting me. I am absolutely honored to continue representing CHSU and my peers in the various spaces I engage with in the future. Thank you!”
