Class of 2025 Military Officers Honored at Military Promotion Ceremony

The California Health Sciences University College of Osteopathic Medicine (CHSU-COM) held a Military Promotion Ceremony in honor of its class of 2025 military graduates on Thursday, May 15, 2025.

John Graneto, DO, Dean of the CHSU-COM was the emcee and the pledge of allegiance was led by student doctor Alexander Nguyen, Class of 2027, Second Lieutenant, United States Air Force and the President of the CHSU Student Association of Military Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons.

CHSU was honored to have two distinguished military officer physicians participate in the ceremony. The Oath of Office was led by family medicine physician at Bautista Health Care, Captain Luis Bautista, MD, Medical OIC for Deployment Processing Command West at Camp Pendleton, US Navy; and Physician in Chief and Chief of Staff at the Permanente Medical Group in Fresno, Lt Colonel, Shahzad Jahromi, MD, 144th Fighter Wing at the Fresno Air National Guard Base, US Air Force.

The CHSU-COM Class of 2025 graduates were promoted from O-1 to O-3, including US Air Force Officers Capt. Joshua P. Karron, DO, Capt. Tom W. Liu, DO, and Capt. Thuytien Pham, DO; US Army Officer CPT Kyle Beeler, DO; and US Navy Officer LT Aaron Huntington, DO.

The new promoted Officers were “pinned” by family members and friends to commemorate this important step in their military physician training.
