Successful First CHSU Seminar Series Presentation

The first presentation in the CHSU Seminar Series by Chhaya Makhija, MD, Adjunct Assistant Professor in Specialty Medicine and Clinical/Faculty Preceptor at the CHSU-COM, was a great success.

Her informative presentation titled, “Revolutionizing Diabetes Care: CGM & Lifestyle Medicine – An Endocrinologist’s Breakthrough,” was attended by about 40 students, faculty, and staff in October.

Dr. Makhija shared her insights on:

  • The transformative value of Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) in Type 2 Diabetes.
  • How to simplify CGM training for your patients, making it accessible and effective.
  • Inspiring real-life patient stories that demonstrate the powerful impact of CGM.
  • The reality behind CGM graphs and what they truly reveal about your patients’ health.

Attendees also received practical resources, engaged in insightful discussions, and received valuable handouts to enhance diabetes care approach. 

November CHSU Seminar Series

The next CHSU Seminar Series will include the presenter Ashley Garispe, DO, who will deliver an in-person presentation on “A2-Academics and Admin,” on Monday, November 4th from 12:00-1:00 pm.

The presentation will include:

  • Growing up in the Central Valley, medical school and residency in SoCal, and returning to the Central Valley as an attending.
  • Life as an attending and options to continue personal and professional growth.
  • Academics – research director in residency, research director for the hospital, restarted research committee.
  • Admin – operations director, large scale projects across different hospital regions,
  • Balancing work with personal life and career prospects.

The COM Faculty Development Committee and COM Research Committee are the organizers of the CHSU Seminar Series.
