CHSU Military Promotion Ceremony Honors 2026 Graduating Officers

The California Health Sciences University College of Osteopathic Medicine (CHSU-COM) held a Military Promotion Ceremony in honor of its class of 2026 medical graduates who are military officers on Thursday, May 14, 2026.
John Graneto, DO, Dean of the CHSU-COM was the emcee and the pledge of allegiance was led by student doctor Bryce Deniz, Ensign, in the United States Navy and the 2026-2027 President of the CHSU Student Association of Military Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons.
CHSU was honored to have a distinguished military officer physician participate in the ceremony. The Oath of Office was led by family medicine physician at Bautista Health Care, Captain Luis Bautista, MD, Medical OIC for Deployment Processing Command West at Camp Pendleton, US Navy.
These eight (8) CHSU-COM Class of 2026 graduates who are military officers were promoted from O-1 to O-3:
- US Air Force Officer
- Capt. Johan Hsu, DO
- US Army Officers
- CPT Brynn Appelman, DO
- CPT Steven Chuh, DO
- CPT Steve Frediani, DO
- CPT Abel Eusebio Guzman, DO
- CPT Alexander Ryan Kosche, DO
- CPT Robert Nelson Palacios, DO
- US Navy Officer
- LT Christopher Larenz Acosta, DO
The newly promoted Officers were “pinned” by family members and friends to commemorate this important step in their military physician training.
Special thank you to retired Master Sergeant Patrick Latour and members of the Clovis East High School Air Force Junior ROTC Color Guard for presenting the colors at the ceremony.
